ICED EARTH Drummer To Land Job On 'The Howard Stern Show'?
March 25, 2004ICED EARTH drummer Richard Christy (ex-DEATH, CONTROL DENIED) appears to be the favorite to land the job on "The Howard Stern Show" previously held by Stuttering John (who recently made the move to "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno"). Christy, a self-professed "huge fan of Howard's show for years," has submitted several audition tapes for consideration as part of the contest to win Stuttering John's old job. A few of those recordings were aired on "The Howard Stern Show" Thursday morning (March 25) to a rousing response from Howard, who made it clear that Richard was by far his personal favorite out of all the contestants so far. Richard had previously stated the following about "The Howard Stern Show" in an official newsletter sent out last October:
"In the past several months I have had numerous comedy songs and voice mails played on 'The Howard Stern Show'. I'm now kind of known on the show as the guy who rags on K.C. Armstrong on the voice mail. And as recently as [Oct. 14, 2003] they have played many comedy parody songs that I have recorded about the show, including a 'Chariots of Fire' remix (about Robin Quivers jogging with diarrhea accident) that they have been using as an intro to Robin's news, they played it this morning actually. I have been a huge fan of Howard's show for years and it is an honor to hear my voice and my songs on his radio show. You can usually recognize my Kansan accent on the voice mail messages that he plays."
